Senator Alli congratulates Prof. Olapegba on appointment as UI's 14th substantive Vice-Chancellor
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli, has congratulated Prof. Peter Olapegba on his appointment as the 14th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan (UI).
Senator Alli, in a statement he personally signed on Wednesday in Ibadan, described Olapegba's appointment as a well-deserved recognition of academic excellence, visionary leadership and outstanding service.
The governorship candidate said that Olapegba, a distinguished son of Igboora in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, was a source of immense pride to the people of Oyo State, particularly the Ibarapa zone.
He said that Olapegba's remarkable academic accomplishments, integrity, administrative competence and dedication to scholarship had earned him the confidence to lead Nigeria's premier university at a critical period in its history.
According to Alli, the appointment is not only a personal milestone for the renowned professor but also a testimony to the abundant human capital and intellectual excellence that Oyo State continues to offer Nigeria and the global community.
He expressed confidence that Olapegba would deploy his wealth of experience, intellectual capacity and innovative leadership to consolidate the institution's enviable position as the nation's foremost citadel of learning and globally respected institution.
"Your appointment is a clear affirmation of your hard work, professionalism and unwavering commitment to academic excellence over the years.

The APC governorship candidate prayed for divine wisdom, sound health and strength for Prof. Olapegba as he assumes the enormous responsibility of steering the affairs of the institution.
Alli also urged the university community to give the new Vice-Chancellor the needed cooperation and support to enable him to achieve his vision for the continued growth, stability and academic advancement of the University of Ibadan.
