Senator Alli seeks EU collaboration on Agriculture, Summit

Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli has called for stronger collaboration with the European Union to boost agricultural development, stressing the need to leverage bilateral strength and goodwill to achieve sustainable agricultural objectives. Alli, the Senate Committee Chairman on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, made the call on Wednesday during his courtesy visit to the EU Embassy in Abuja.  The lawmaker said that the visit was to brief the EU on the committee’s programmes and seek strategic partnership. He said that the collaboration would focus on the First National Legislative Summit and Expo on Agricultural Colleges and Research Institutions scheduled for May 11 to May 13 in Ibadan. Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency have formally agreed on the zoning of key elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, in a move aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and improving electoral outcomes. The resolution was reached on Thursday, March 26, 2026, during a constituency stakeholders’ meeting held at the party secretariat in Igboora. The decision was documented and jointly signed by the constituency chairman, Chief Francis M. Babalola, and the secretary, Chief T.A.A. Adenrele. According to the communiqué, the zoning arrangement is a strategic response to the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, which leaders described as an ugly embarrassing situation that must not be repeated.
