Our attention has been drawn to the press statement by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, media aide to Governor Seyi Makinde, titled "Distinguished Engineer vs Jejune Lawyer." We will not descend into name-calling. We will respond with facts that Oyo people see every day. 1. ON STREETLIGHTS: WHO IS FAILING OYO? The media aide said we should blame APC Federal Government for blackout because generators are used for streetlights. This is laughable. Sir, you are the Governor of a State. You budgeted billions for streetlights. If you knew the national grid has challenges, why didn't your "distinguished engineering" provide a sustainable solution from day one instead of burning expensive diesel every night? I was unable to personally attend the elevation ceremony at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, as I am currently in the Holy Land performing Lesser Hajj (Umrah). Yesterday, Friday 81th September, 2026 His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Sen) Adewolu Ladoja approved the promotion of four High Chiefs in the Balogun chieftaincy line. 1. Oba Abiodun Azeez Agagugu: Elevated from Ashipa Balogun to Osi Balogun of Ibadanland. 2. Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin: Elevated from Ekerin Balogun to Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland. 3. Oloye Agba (Sen) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli: Elevated from Ekarun Balogun to Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland. 4. Oloye Agba Samuel Adegboyega Adeniran: Elevated from Abese Balogun to Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland, thereby becoming a member of the Olubadan-in-Council. Kabiyesi congratulated the newly promoted High Chiefs and charged them to continue to serve Ibadanland with dedication, loyalty and commitment to tradition. The alleged controversy surrounding the candidacy of the popular Broadcaster cum Politician, Oriyomi Hamzat as the 2027 governorship candidate of Accord in Oyo state has finally been laid to rest by the Party's secretary in the state, Hon. The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Alli, has appointed seasoned journalists and communication professionals to key positions in his campaign media and publicity team.
