Condemning the Horrific Abductions in Oriire Local Government. “it's a dark day for education and peaceful living” by Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK).
It is with a deeply shattered heart and a profound sense of outrage that I unequivocally condemn the horrific and coordinated attacks by armed bandits on Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esiele, Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, and L.A. Primary School in Esiele, all within the Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso.
The heartbreaking abduction of dozens of innocent students, pupils-including a two-year-old toddler-and dedicated teachers from the very sanctuaries of learning is an abominable crime against humanity and the future of Oyo State. My deepest condolences go to the family of Mr. Adesiyan Adegboye, the dedicated educator who was brutally murdered during this senseless invasion.
The distress videos of our school administrators, teachers, and students pleading from captivity are agonising to watch, and they serve as a grim reminder that our state is currently grappling with a severe security deficit that can no longer be met with mere political rhetoric.
Schools must forever remain inviolable safe havens for intellectual growth, not hunting grounds for terrorists and criminal elements. I urgently call upon the Oyo State Government, the Federal Government, the Inspector General of Police, and all joint security apparatuses to remain consistent in their launch of a clinical, swift, and highly coordinated rescue operation to ensure the safe and unconditional return of every single abducted child and teacher. We cannot afford bureaucratic delays when the lives of innocent schoolchildren and our patriotic educators are hanging in the balance. This unprecedented breach of security in the Ogbomoso axis demands a massive recalibration of our intelligence-gathering mechanisms, community policing frameworks, and a total deployment of tactical forces to comb the forests and bring these perpetrators to definitive justice.
To the grieving families, the traumatised communities of Ogbomoso, and the leadership of the affected schools: my thoughts, prayers, and absolute solidarity are with you during this excruciatingly dark period. You are not alone in this agony. As a father, an academic, and a true human, I share your pain and your demand for urgent, tangible action.
We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder as a state to declare that Oyo state will never yield its peace, its children, or its future to the forces of terror. May the Almighty grant strength to the captives, comfort to the mourning, and swift success to our security forces in bringing our people back home safely.
