RESTRUCTURE NIGERIA NOW, MAYE OLUBANDAN, HIGH CHIEF LEKAN ALABI URGES GOVERNMENT

Maye Olubandan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Alabi has called on Federal and State Governments to ensure timely restructuring of Nigeria in favour of Regional Governments as witness in the first republic.

High Chief Alabi made the call on Sunday while participating on Jamz 100.1 FM's current affairs programme called Periscope between 5pm to 6pm.

Earlier, Award Winning Broadcast Journalist, Amb. Olayemi Afolabi, the anchor of the programme, did introduction about restructuring touching 2005 National Conference and 2014 Confab organized by both Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.
Asked to comment on restructuring, Oloye Lekan Alabi went memory lane; "Before independent Tafawa Balewa was talking about our differences while Nnamid Azikiwe favoured nationalism because his friend, Dr. Nkwem Nkrumah was a revolutionist when they were both studying  abroad and because Nkrumah left for GoalCoast to become President.
President Nkrumah changed the name of his county to Ghana this was what Nnamid Azikiwe wanted to replicate in Nigeria "
I am of Tafawa Balewa school of thought on regionalism, we need to go back to a system that has worked. Ben Nwabuze wrote degree 32 that Aguiyi IRONSI used to abolished all the Regional Governments.

Not done, Oloye Alabi went on "any where federalism is been practiced, the central government has such role like defense, monetary and that was why Regional Governments have their offices, consulates in London in the first republic. There is no time to conduct another constitutional conference, we should just have to go back to 1963 constitution and the recommendations of 2014 Confab now because we don't have the money to waste again "

Asked if he belief in empowering Traditional Rulers via constitutional duties.
Responding Oloye Said: "I was in London as student over four decades ago when the conservative wanted to abolish Monarch, we were on the side of Labour party that stood for the reservation of their heritage. The Prime minister in UK can't disolve parliament without approval from the King and it was the same British that colonised Nigeria.
Through the help of God Almighty and Olubandan Odugage I have represented Olubandan in-Council in Abuja to make case for our traditional rulers before"
Also, commenting Hon. Lukman Adeola Adetunji who was live in the studio said" each geopolitical zone must develop at its pace base on humans and natural resources within its geographical location.
I watched a video of students receiving lessons without roof and windows in Nigeria yet I saw another one from Israel receiving lessons in a condusive environment and I wept, how can our own citizens compete globally? We must embrace a system that work"
