INEC LISTS ORIYOMI HAMZAT AS ACCORD GUBER CANDIDATE_HAMZAT CALLS FOR UNITY, VIGILANCE AS OYO 2027 GOVERNORSHIP RACE GATHERS MOMENTUM

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, with broadcaster and politician, Oriyomi Hamzat, listed as the candidate of the ACCORD alongside candidates of 15 other political parties.

Reacting to the development, Hamzat expressed gratitude to his supporters, party members and executives for their prayers, solidarity and continued belief in his political journey.
This is contained in a statement released by his spokesperson, Samuel Ibikunle, the development was described as a significant moment in the dispute over Accord’s governorship ticket, with Hamzat’s name appearing on INEC’s published list.

Hamzat described the journey as one that transcends personal ambition, saying it represents the hopes and collective future of the people.

He said the latest development had addressed several insinuations and questions surrounding attempts to undermine the collective interest of the party, but cautioned supporters against complacency.

“This is not the finish line; it is the beginning of a more demanding journey,” he said.

Hamzat urged Accord members and supporters to strengthen their unity, deepen engagement with the electorate and remain committed to their political objectives.

He also called on party faithful to be prepared to defend their mandate through lawful, peaceful and democratic means, warning that further challenges could arise as the election approaches.

According to him, the party must remain focused, organised and united rather than allow disagreements or intimidation to derail its efforts.

The Accord candidate further acknowledged the trust reposed in him by supporters, describing it as a responsibility he would continue to carry with humility.

“I do not take your trust for granted, and I will continue to work hard to honour it,” he stated.

Hamzat concluded his message with a call for sustained commitment to the people of Oyo State, declaring: “The work continues. The commitment remains. The people must always come first.”

The latest development is expected to put to rest the internal disputes on the candidacy of Oriyomi Hamzat as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Oyo State.
