Col. (Rtd.) Gbenga Adegbola, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and aspirant for the Oyo North Senatorial District, has dismissed speculation that he is planning to leave the party.
Adegbola, through his Director-General, Akin Ajekiigbe-Bada, said he remains a committed and bona fide member of the APC, describing reports of his purported defection as unfounded.
He explained that despite the issues surrounding the recent APC senatorial primary in Oyo North, he remains optimistic that the matter will be resolved by the appropriate organs of the party, particularly the national leadership.
Adegbola also reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other leaders of the APC, stressing that his commitment to the success of the party at the polls remains unwavering.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and focused, noting that they had continued to participate actively in APC activities, including the party’s recent convergence, and would attend subsequent party engagements.
The Oyo North aspirant also appreciated his supporters for standing by him before, during and after the primary, assuring them that he would continue to pursue what he described as their collective political interest.
His statement comes amid speculation about his next political move following the Oyo North senatorial primary, with Adegbola making it clear that, for now, he has no intention of abandoning the APC.
