APC Leaders in Ibarapa Central/ North Resolve on Zoning for 2027 Elections

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency have formally agreed on the zoning of key elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, in a move aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and improving electoral outcomes.
The resolution was reached on Thursday, March 26, 2026, during a constituency stakeholders’ meeting held at the party secretariat in Igboora. The decision was documented and jointly signed by the constituency chairman, Chief Francis M. Babalola, and the secretary, Chief T.A.A. Adenrele.

According to the communiqué, the zoning arrangement is a strategic response to the party’s performance in the 2023 elections, which leaders described as an ugly embarrassing situation that must not be repeated.

Under the new agreement, Ibarapa Central Local Government has been designated to produce the party’s candidate for the Oyo State House of Assembly, while Ibarapa North Local Government will present the candidate for the Federal House of Representatives seat.

Beyond the zoning formula, party leaders also outlined strict criteria for aspirants seeking to contest under the APC platform. The resolution stipulates that all candidates must demonstrate proven credibility and loyalty to the party, enjoy broad acceptability among party members within their constituencies, and emerge through a transparent process that is free, fair, and devoid of personal bias or imposition.
The meeting witnessed a strong turnout of influential party figures and stakeholders, reflecting a renewed sense of unity within the constituency. Among those in attendance were Chief K.O. Jinadu, Alhaji O.M. Abas, Hon. R.O. Ojegoke, and Prince Afees Oyinloye, alongside other leaders and grassroots mobilisers.
Party leaders described the deliberations as timely and necessary, noting that the zoning consensus would foster stability, promote inclusiveness, and position the APC for a more coordinated and competitive outing in the 2027 elections in Oyo State.

The resolution underscores a broader commitment by the party’s leadership in the constituency to prioritise internal democracy, equity and strategic planning as preparations gradually intensify toward the next electoral cycle.
