Let me be unequivocal: freedom of association and expression are not optional in a democracy — they are fundamental rights. Alongside these stand the pillars of a just and functional democratic society: the people, the rule of law, credible elections, and accountability. By Akeem Abas  Residents of Ibarapa zone in Oyo South now enjoy improved night mobility, thanks to solar-powered streetlights installed by Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC–Oyo South) across three local governments. The solar project aims to enhance safety, stimulate local economies, and address infrastructure needs in Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa North, and Ibarapa East, covering several wards and underserved communities. Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde, on Friday, said that his administration's commitment to improving the education sector has been yielding positive results. The governor stated this while inaugurating the Governing Councils of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and the Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan. Bayo Bashir Ojulari, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), is a seasoned Nigerian engineer with expertise in petroleum, process, and production engineering.   Before his new appointment, He was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Renaissance Africa Energy Company. The board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been sacked. President Bola Tinubu approved a sweeping reconstitution of the NNPC Limited board on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. This involved the removal of the chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari, and all other board members appointed with them in November 2023.
