DANGER AT A PUBLIC SECONDARY: Urgent APPEAL TO RENOVATE OR DEMOLISH DECAPITATED BUILDINGS WITHIN OBA AKINBIYI HIGH SCHOOL 1 COMPOUND, CULTURAL center AREA, MOKOLA, IBADAN

Your Excellency Sir,

I write to you with great concern regarding the deteriorating condition of some buildings within the compound of Oba Akinbiyi High School 1 located at Cultural center area, Mokola, Ibadan.
These structures, now in a decapitated and hazardous state, not only mar the image of your government and the school, but also pose significant risks to the safety of life of students, staffs, and the community at large.

These buildings, once pivotal to the school’s operations, have now become an eyesore and a symbol of neglect. The broken walls, sagging roofs, and exposed debris create an environment prone to accidents and danger. Furthermore, these derelict structures attract unwanted activities that compromise the safety and wellbeing of the students and host community.

While it is understood that the state faces multiple priorities, I humbly urge you to take immediate action by either renovating these structures or approving their demolition to pave the way for new building that will not only be safe for the students but befitting of your administration. Renovating the buildings would restore the pride of Oba Akinbiyi High school 1 and provide much-needed facilities for the students. On the other hand, demolishing it, if renovation is not feasible, would at least eliminate the safety hazards and create space for a more durable academic structure.

The future of our children and their education depends on the environment in which they learn. A safe, clean, and inspiring setting fosters growth, creativity, and excellence. This were possibly parts of considerations of the Bola Ige administration that located the school on a valley with inspiring serenity.

Your Excellency Sir, leaving this building in it's current state will not only undermines the goals of the founding fathers, it sends a troubling message about our collective commitment of your administration to education. Though some will excuse that what are the successive government doing, but every leadership shall be judged by their levels of impacts and contribution of humanity and development. It is worthy of note to inform that the alumni association of this school collectively and at various graduating sets have been helpful in doing on maintenance or the other but this particular infrastructural area really calls for your attention.

I kindly request your urgent intervention in this matter. Your leadership and swift action would not only transform Oba Akinbiyi High school 1 which is a stone throw to the seat of government - Agodi Secretariat, Cultural center and the newly proposed housing easte around Agodi garden, but also reinforce your commitment to providing quality education and infrastructure for all.

Thank you for your attention, and I trust in your dedication to the betterment of Oyo State and by extension education.

Yours faithfully,
Azeez, Temitope.
