THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HAS ASKED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO CONSTRUCT PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES AT STRATEGIC LOCATIONS ON THE LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY. ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT ISSUED BY AKANDE-SADIPE’S SPECIAL ASSISTANT ON MEDIA, OLAMILEKAN OLUSADA ON THURSDAY IN ABUJA, THE RESOLUTION FOLLOWED A MOTION MOVED BY REP. TOLULOPE AKANDE-SADIPE OF THE (APC) WHO REPRESENTS OLUYOLE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY DURING PLENARY. SADIPE EXPLAINED THAT THE MOTION RECOGNISED THE IMPORTANCE OF CONSTRUCTING PEDESTRIAN BRIDGES AT SPECIFIC LOCATIONS WHICH INCLUDE THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, TOLL GATE IN IBADAN, FÉLELE, SÓKA, SANYO, BÓLÚWAJI, ACADEMY, AND ELÉRUKU. ACCORDING TO AKANDE-SADIPE, THESE BRIDGES ARE AS CRUCIAL TO SAVING LIVES, REDUCING THE SUFFERINGS OF COMMUTERS AND MAINTAINING THE ECONOMIC VIABILITY OF THESE HIGHLY POPULATED AREAS.   THE COURT OF APPEAL SITTING IN ABUJA, ON THURSDAY REVERSED THE NULLIFICATION OF THE ELECTION OF GOVERNOR ABDULLAHI SULE OF NASARAWA STATE. THE APPELLATE COURT, IN A UNANIMOUS DECISION BY A THREE-MEMBER PANEL OF JUSTICES, VOIDED THE VERDICT OF THE NASARAWA STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION PETITION TRIBUNAL, WHICH SACKED GOVERNOR SULE OF THE ALL-PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC.   IN THE LEAD VERDICT THAT WAS DELIVERED BY JUSTICE UCHECHUKWU ONUEMENAM, THE COURT HELD THAT EVIDENCE BEFORE IT ESTABLISHED THAT THE TRIBUNAL RELIED ON LEGALLY INADMISSIBLE EVIDENCE TO DECLARE THE CANDIDATE OF THE PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP, DAVID OMBUGADU, AS THE VALID WINNER OF THE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION THAT WAS HELD IN THE STATE ON MARCH 18.   CONSEQUENTLY, IT VACATED THE ORDER OF THE TRIBUNAL THAT DIRECTED THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTORAL COMMISSION, INEC, TO WITHDRAW THE CERTIFICATE OF RETURN THAT WAS ISSUED TO GOVERNOR SULE AS THE WINNER OF THE GOVERNORSHIP CONTE

OYO GOVERNMENT TO CONSTRUCTS MASSIVE INTERNAL ROADS IN IBADAN METROPOLIS .... MAKINDE

Oyo State governor, 'Seyi Makinde' on Saturday, promised that "the state government will soon award the contracts for the reconstruction of internal roads in Ibadan metropolis as part of his administration’s commitment to fix inner roads after successfully linking all the zones of the state with road infrastructure". The governor maintained that "the projects to be kick-started within the next few weeks would include two major highways, Challenge-Ring Road to Mile 110 Junction and the Beere-Yemetu-Bodija-University of Ibadan roads, would be reconstructed completely". Makinde, who stated this while commissioning the Bond Mall, Ring Road, Ibadan, equally said "his government would continue to support and encourage investors with the right infrastructure and environment for their businesses to thrive".

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed the willingness of the federal government to establish synergy with all the academic unions within universities in the country, saying all avenues for dialogue will be explored and exhausted before any strike actions. The President, who stated this during the 33rd convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, said "this corporation of the Union with the federal government will ensure the needed educational development in the country". Tinubu, who was represented by the former President of the West Africa College of Surgeons, Prof. King-David Terna Yawe, said "the synergy will help to create an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity on all campuses".

  PRESIDENT TINUBU SIGNS N2.1 TRILLION SUPPLEMENTARY 2023 BUDGET   President Bola Tinubu signed the N2.176 trillion Supplementary Appropriation Act on Wednesday in Abuja to strengthen Nigeria's security architecture and address Nigeria's critical infrastructure deficit, amongst other considerations.   The President signed the Supplementary Appropriation Act, 2023, in his office at the State House in the presence of Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen.
