APATA KILLING: Accord Candidate For Ibadan Southwest/Northwest Federal Constituency, Rotimi Ajanaku, Suspends Campaign Activities Over Killing Of Protesters, Calls For Calmness.

The House of Representatives candidate of Accord in Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency of Oyo state, Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku has condemned the unlawful killing of protesters during the peaceful fuel and naira note scarcity protests in Apata, Ibadan.

Speaking on the unfortune incident, he said, "different situations warrants different approaches. He cautioned that "the Amotekun, Nigerian Police Force and other Joint Security Forces should have managed this situation better without allowing it to degenerate into revolts which had claimed live".

He continued, "our Forces should be more professional in handling uprising and protests. The ethic of their job requires outmost civility when dealing with harmless protesters irrespective of any possible provocations as against avoidable irritation when we are not in war zone".
He further call on the Federal government to urgently look into the issue of fuel and naira notes scarcity as our people are facing a lot of hardship. 

"People have money in bank but can not access it as expectation to meet up essentials needs. Our people have to suffer to get life going. This is unacceptable." 

On the other hand, the State government under Engr. Seyi Makinde should also engage in a more peaceful means of conflict resolution in calming the irate protesters.
While commiserating with those that lost their love one, he appealed to the youth and people of Apata/Odo ona, Ibadan and Oyo State at large to maintain calmness and find alternative to non peaceful demonstrations. He directed for the suspension of all his campaign activities for few days in respect of the unfortunate incident and happenings in the country.

Residents of Owode Housing Estate, zone 4, Apata, Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Friday, staged a peaceful and advocacy protest against undeveloped land measuring over four thousand plot of virgin lands and many abandoned houses, calling on Governor Seyi Makinde to take urgent step in addressing the problems.
